Official philanthropic partner and cooperating association for the Monterey State Historic Park since 1975.
In 1975 a small group of people, mostly state park employees, formed the third-ever state park association. Their vision was to raise money to restore and repair the four buildings that initially comprised the Monterey State Historic Park.
The park has grown to 20 buildings and a statue, some of which are open to the public for tours, others by special arrangement. Many of our association members are also volunteers. The program has grown from just a few individuals to a wide range of specialists, all of whom can interpret some special aspects of local history.
Mission & Vision
Our Mission is to support interpretation, educational programs, and special events at Monterey State Historic Park in downtown Monterey. The association also assists all of the California State Parks by raising funds and increasing public awareness. We strive to preserve the historic buildings and cultural heritage of Monterey so that all may experience this special place.
The association sponsors educational programs for schools, the Los Niños history summer camp, and the well-loved Christmas in the Adobes, when historic buildings all over old Monterey are open.
We support the park by funding projects, education, and visitor programs and providing key services. Our work is not possible without the support of people love history and historic places and care about keeping history alive - people like you!
